Helping Others
Published by a non-profit organization, At Home in Holland is a unique publication in the Dutch market. With your purchase, you are supporting AWC services and our charities. It is also the first book in the Netherlands whose carbon footprint has been offset. The charity Trees for Travel has planted trees in Malaysia to offset the carbon emissions the book's production has caused.
The new edition was launched by The Hague Mayor Jozias van Aartsen in February 2009. As the patron of the book, Mayor Van Aartzen has demonstrated that the city of peace and justice is also the city of the international community in the Netherlands.
Praise for At Home in Holland:
"The Netherlands is host to nearly 30 international organizations. The American Women's Club of The Hague has provided the best guide for employees of these organizations to move to and integrate into Dutch society. I have found it personally useful during my more than 20 years as a member of an international organization."
- The Honorable Charles N. Brower, Judge of the Iran-United States Claims Tribunal
"The ultimate guide to what it's called, where it's found and how it works, this book is a must for newcomers to the Netherlands. I only wish I had known about it when I arrived - it would have spared me a great deal of frustration!"
- Pat Thurman, Estata Makelaar
