On behalf of the Executive Board of the AWC of The Hague, our Denim & Diamonds Steering Committee and our Members, I would like to thank each and every one of our sponsors and auction item contributors and guests for helping to make our May 8 celebration and fundraising event a tremendous success!
I couldn't have been more proud or more honored to be part of this organization on the evening of May 8. Thank you to each and every one of you who took part in the evening which was not only fun for everyone, but has raised money both for the Club and for the victims in Haiti. It was truly a celebration! The room was lovely, the auction no less than impressive, the food - delicious, the hotel staff service - terrific, the band - fabulous, everyone looked smashing and there were smiles, laughter, kissing, more laughing and lots of dancing.
I received many compliments on the evening from our fellow FAWCO Member guests, Ambassador Hartog Levin and her husband, and the many other dignitaries, special guests and friends who attended. It is a credit to the Club and to the many volunteers who donated so much of their time and talent that we have so many supporters being so continually impressed with the AWC of The Hague.
The event couldn't have been such a success without Marilee Watts and Terry Stracke, our steering committee co-chairs. These women have certainly left their mark here they have given us a gift that will be remembered and appreciated for a long time to come - they will be sorely missed.
Yoka van der Louw and Sophie Dencher reminded us all what I mentioned in my speach about what John Adams observed abouthe the Dutch - "there are no friends more faithful than they."
As part of its mission, the AWC of The Hague strives to continue to make a difference, and we are pleased to announce that we have made a very generous contribution to the FAWCO ERF Fund for Haiti. A successful and rewarding evening like this event reminds us all why we are part of this truly special AWC Club.
Respectfully submitted,
Leslie Collingridge
President
